CSSHL student-athlete Bennett Byers has signed a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the Everett Silvertips.
Initially going undrafted at the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft, Byers would take his talent down to Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy in the 2023/24 season with CDA’s Navy U17 Prep squad. The Calgary, AB native would return the following season stepping into the starting role with the U18 Prep team. Byers would immediately impress between the pipes, posting a 14-12-1 record with a shutout and a 0.921SV%. Byers would also back CDA to a U18 Prep Div II title at the 2025 CSSHL Western Championships going 3-0-0 with a 1.67 GAA and a 0.954SV%. Entering the 2025/26 season, Byers would record 3 shutouts across 18 games played in U18 Prep, backing CDA to a cinderella run during the 2026 CSSHL Western Championships, just coming shy in their quarter-final matchup against eventual champions RHA Kelowna. Byers was be added to Everett’s protected list during the 2025/26 season and would impress during the 2026 WHL Preseason where throughout his two games allowed only 2 goals through 56 shots against. Byers led the preseason in save percentage with a 0.964SV% and was one of two goalies to record a shutout in the WHL. Byers signed his contract with Everett following a successful preseason.
